Industries

Built for sectors with zero margin for error.

We apply a single engineering standard — nuclear-grade — across industries where uptime, safety, and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable.

01 / NUCLEAR
Core vertical

Nuclear Generation

Security network systems, controls, instrumentation, and commissioning for active nuclear builds. On-site partner on the first new-build U.S. reactors in a generation.

  • Security Network Systems — design & implementation
  • Controls coordination across packages
  • Scheduling, field implementation, commissioning
  • Testing, turnover, and startup support
02 / CHEMICAL
Growth vertical

Chemical Processing

The same engineering discipline, applied to chemical plants: hazardous-area network infrastructure, safety-instrumented systems, plant commissioning. Built for operators who can't afford a second-best vendor.

  • Plant control & SIS network architecture
  • Hazardous-area instrumentation & wiring
  • Commissioning, FAT/SAT, and turnover
  • Operational readiness & compliance support
Capabilities

End-to-end delivery — planning through turnover.

We take ownership of the full lifecycle, or slot into existing programs as an engineering execution partner.

01

Project Management

Owner-aligned coordination, planning, and scheduling across multi-contractor, multi-discipline scopes.

02

Security Network Systems

Design, implementation, and commissioning of plant security networks for nuclear and critical-infrastructure sites.

03

Controls & Instrumentation

Plant control architecture, SIS, and field instrumentation integration across hazardous and standard environments.

04

Commissioning & Start-up

FAT, SAT, system turnover, and integrated commissioning through handover to operations.

05

Regulatory & Compliance

NRC, OSHA, and industry-specific compliance embedded in every deliverable — audit-ready documentation by default.

06

Consulting & Advisory

Short-form engagements for operators evaluating security, controls, or commissioning programs pre-contract.

Plant Vogtle Unit 3 — Security Network System

Coordination, planning, scheduling, implementation, and commissioning of the full Security Network System for Unit 3 — one of the first new-build U.S. reactors in over three decades. Scope included over 30,000 fiber optic terminations, with every termination and fiber path tested at a 100% pass rate.

Plant Vogtle Unit 4 — Security Network System

Same scope executed in parallel on Unit 4 — again over 30,000 fiber optic terminations, every termination and fiber path tested at a 100% pass rate. Leveraged the playbook and lessons learned from Unit 3 to drive schedule and quality on the second reactor. Commissioned and turned over.

Chemical Plant Engagements — 2026 Capacity

We're actively scoping chemical-sector programs where operators need nuclear-grade discipline applied to plant controls, safety-instrumented systems, and commissioning. Early-stage conversations welcome.

The 787 difference

Why owners keep us on the roster.

01

Nuclear-grade by default

The standards that govern nuclear commissioning set the floor for how we deliver every project — no two-tier process depending on the sector.

02

Principal-led engagements

When you engage 787, you engage the practitioner — not a staffing pyramid. Scope, decisions, and delivery flow directly through a senior engineer with 15+ years in nuclear. No hand-offs, no bait-and-switch.

03

Owner-aligned, not contractor-aligned

We're hired by operators to watch operators' interests. Schedule, quality, and safety before vendor convenience — always.

Consulting & advisory

Expertise on demand — without the full project commitment.

For operators evaluating a program, responding to a finding, or stress-testing a schedule. Engage 787 for focused advisory work before the RFP lands.

  • Security architecture reviews for critical infrastructure
  • Commissioning-readiness assessments
  • Schedule & scope recovery advisory
  • Vendor & contractor evaluation support
  • Regulatory/NRC response preparation
  • Owner's-engineer short-term engagements

Leadership

The practitioner you hire is the one who shows up.

787 Engineering is built around principal-led delivery — senior engineering expertise applied directly, without the consulting-firm overhead.

Mechanical engineer by training. Early career as a Design Engineer at The Boeing Company working on commercial aerostructures — then moved into nuclear in 2011, a deliberate step into a field where the tolerance for failure is effectively zero.

At Southern Nuclear, joined the Plant Vogtle Units 1 & 2 team as a System Outage Execution Owner, then moved into the Capital Project Group as Site Project Lead — the owner-side Implementation Manager / Project Manager responsible for executing major plant modifications. Led three landmark capital projects on the operating fleet:

  • Refueling Machine upgrades (Units 1 & 2) — the only “wheels-up” RFM replacement executed in the United States, and very likely the world. Critical-path scope on back-to-back refueling outages; on Unit 2, delivered 32 hours ahead of the scheduled critical-path duration, saving the utility millions in avoided downtime.
  • Flux Thimble replacements (Units 1 & 2) — full replacement scope delivered across both units.
  • IT Infrastructure Upgrade (Units 1 & 2) — plant-wide infrastructure modernization.

Founded 787 Engineering in 2017 to bring that same execution discipline directly to owners — no pyramid staffing, no hand-offs, no layers between the problem and the practitioner.

Through 787, delivered the Security Network System on Plant Vogtle Units 3 and 4 — the first new-build U.S. reactors in over three decades — and is currently executing IPC software upgrades within the CDCS system on Units 1 & 2.
